There was a perfect balance of chocolate, peanuts, and chicken flavors. My dining partners and I shared hot chocolate in a copper kettle. It was an entertaining experience. :-)You must sit outside and enjoy the roaming entertainment. The outside seating is a little sheltered, so you aren't likely to be a part of the "show."Keep Santa Cruz Weird!"- Try the cheese dipping pots and the hot chocolate. They are one of the few Santa Cruz places that are open past 9:30/10.

Positive Chocolate Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
My best friend and I strolled along the main drag in Santa Cruz looking for a spot to eat, and finally settled on Chocolate for its cute outdoor patio and extensive veggie / organic menu.
I have to say, Chocolate is a horrible name for this place because it makes it sound like a dessert place that serves... chocolate. It's actually a great lunch spot with tons of awesome-sounding salads and soups, etc. It advertises that its veggies are organic and its meat is free-range. I enjoyed a Cobb salad with a side of mushroom soup. The portions were large and the salad had plenty of yummy ingredients, including pistachios.
The service staff were attentive and I liked that the patio was surrounded by plants and had a decorative water fountain to listen to.
The one weird thing is that they "share" a restroom with the bookstore next door. Which means you have to leave the restaurant, walk into the bookstore, down a hall and into their restroom.

Negative Chocolate Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
FAIL!
Poor service, huge disconnected menu - couldn't stay to really try the food. Some weird Eifle tower water bottle for our small glasses. Lame downtown traffic and we ended our appetizers with our waiter eating his meal talking on the phone. Not to mention the language barrier, therefore poor communication re the menu.
AND the place smells like a old linen bag that needs to be taken out.
Could be good with the location and the hours too bad the soul left with the first owner.

Average Chocolate Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
This mid-price dinner place is dimly-lit and romantic. They [don't remember much about his/her name] were pretty cool about our voracious bread-eating four year-old.
I think I had some kind of chicken mole which was good. There is nothing Chocolate can do about it at this location. But the bathroom sucks because diners have to cross the adjacent bookstore to use it.
