Positive Olitas Santa Cruz Review:

The service is usually good, but sometimes they can be slow. This is usually overlooked by the wonderful views. Watching the sailboats, seals, or the surf out at steamers, or on the south side the boardwalk and yacht harbor. The food is usually excellent, my son is not a big Mexican fan. He loves sushi and really loves the Ahi Tuna Appetizer or the crevice. All of the dishes are great, with the fish tacos special always a sure bet! They just added a goat cheese chile relleno special that is awesome! The some dishes are spicy, but that's he way I like it. All in all a great place to bring the family, or hang at the bar and watch the game.

Negative Olitas Santa Cruz Review:

I recently had a bad experience here, though it was mostly due to the service. Not only did our server ignore us for about 20 minutes, but when she finally got around to offering us drinks and going over the menu, it was obvious she wasn't familiar with it. We ordered 3 entrees and asked for black beans instead of what she termed "regular beans", aka refried.... Of course every single entree came with refried beans which we had to get reordered. My sister got the fish tacos which were pretty good. However my mole chicken looked and felt like the consistency of peanut sauce at a Thai restaurant and did not taste any better. After our order came, we were again ignored and even when the server finally came around to check on us, she failed to acknowledge our empty drinks and took off again. With the addition of poor eye contact and hardly a smile all night, we were thinking of blowing off the tip. The clincher was that when we gave her our credit cards for payment, she first dropped one and it took her another 15 minutes to find it.... then she charged my sister twice for the same meal and we had to get one of the charges cancelled.

As I was walking out, I tried to make a comment to the manager who simply gave me a blank stare and said "Oh, sorry about that".... Needless to say we felt unwanted and considering this place is not cheap, we were pretty dissapointed. I won't be going back here for sure.

Average Olitas Santa Cruz Review:

First of all, I give 3 stars for the views..which is spectacular..

Service was real bad..waiting and waiting for drink refills...napkins, the check!! The place can be real loud!!!!

when we first were seated my husband and I were giving a 2 top table near a 12 top loud margarita drinking table..this party was loud and rude..so i was able to ask for another table, which was fine with the hostess she told me the couple before us didnt like it either..(so why did she sit us there?).
Secondly, why do they put whole chili pods in the beans? why do they leave them in there? in my beans I had about 7 pods..i fished them out in the dark..(this was dinner time in the evening, the place is dim lighted and candle light setting)..I ordered chili colorado..IT came hottttttttttttttttt!  very spicey  no warning on the menu at all for their items listed..
If you order a salad and they say it will be small...its not!!!  its super huge and the one with garganzola is the bomb..hah it has great taste..just dont eat the whole can of olives they put on them (italian green olives) there loaded with a ton of sodium.. one salad can definately feed 2 people..

Food was great tasting but very spicey!!!
Dont bother asking for tums or pepto on your way out, because they dont carry it..trust me I already asked..they carry mints and toothpicks though...

I would go back but this time just for a drink and free chips and salsa!!
