Pergolesi Santa Cruz - Summary:
(from theperg.com) - At Caffe Pergolesi, we strive to maintain a friendly environment where anyone can come in to relax, read, study, or just socialize. We put great effort into making and selling the best coffee, espresso, pastries, and food in a friendly and culturally diverse atmosphere.
We hire local coffee "Baristas" who know the coffee business and the customers, while making the best coffee drinks around. Many of the baristas are long time locals, creative students attending either UC Santa Cruz or Cabrillo College.
Caffe Pergolesi is a turn-of-the-century Victorian Coffeehouse radiating lots of old world character. The four rooms in the coffeehouse include the Lobby, Blue Room, Green Room and the Orange Room. Each room has ample seating for reading, conversation, work or studying and also displays one of the four local artist’s works.
The yard of the old Victorian is filled with garden seating where you and your friends can enjoy the sun and fresh ocean air. Several picnic tables and a dozen small tables are scattered through the sunny garden setting.

Positive Pergolesi Santa Cruz Review:
i'm at this place all the time, as anyone that knows me, or is at pergs would know, and i like it for its location, its deck, and the fact that they play music no other coffee shop would dream of playing. the coffee isn't really that great. espresso drinks are pretty good though. ultimately you come here for the feel, not for the drinks.

Negative Pergolesi Santa Cruz Review:
One of the coolest cafe buildings around, and okay coffee. But nothing is worse than the ANGST and senseless aggression at this place. Trying to relax at perg, is like trying to have a civilized conversation between a few pubescent teens and their mothers....
Despite the charming building, the style fades into a disgusting bathroom, rickety tables, and a lot of dirt everywhere.
If you're into angry counter-culture-only-for-the-sake-of-being-COUNTER -to-something, then this is the place for you!

Average Pergolesi Santa Cruz Review:
Unfortunately the coffee itself is not so great. Neither is any of the food or pastries. But that's not why I come here. I come to sit outside on the patio and smoke cigarettes, study, use the free wi-fi, and get barked at by the crazy squirrels (literally). I would come a lot more often if they would only start serving better coffee. They do have fresh whipped cream though, which is always nice.
