Red Santa Cruz - Summary:
(from hinds-house.com) - Upstairs in the old Santa Cruz Hotel you will find a lively bar scene and slow, relaxed restaurant that serves good comfort food. Seafood, steaks, small pizzas, sandwiches and salads all beautifully presented and at reasonable prices. The decor is dark and very red. This is the kind of place that envelopes you. You can disappear into this place for hours and forget that the outside world exists. Service can take a while, so don't go there ready to eat immediately. As the night wears on the adjoining bar scene creeps in and takes over the restaurant space. Red Santa Cruz serves dinners until 1:00am.

Positive Red Santa Cruz Review:
The first place I think of for a night out with friends. Yes, the service can be slow but the food is good and I like the dark "red" ambience.

Negative Red Santa Cruz Review:
The last time I was there the waitress walked right over, picked up the check that had been left on the table from the party before us & walked away. She would drift in our direction and then suddenly look as though she'd forgotten something and dash away. No one noticed us. At all. For 15 minutes. We left.
The place is poorly organized for staff to wait properly on the bar & dining area of the restaurant even when it's slow.
Don't go there hungry or you'll starve before you get your food.

Average Red Santa Cruz Review:
During the school year you will find many Slugs here. I have seen this place transformed at least three times over the past 20 years. My favorite was when it was Emi's sushi. Still Red comes through on a solid wine list, creative drinks and courteous staff. Sunday afternoons are really nice plenty of open couches to relax on with a glass of wine and a an app. I saw that someone complained on Yelp about no getting arugula on their pizza. Seems like a sin to one put arugula on pizza and then two compain about it. Life is short! Have another drink!
Menu could use an update!! Go for the drinks menu needs to be revised.

The bad
Way too hot, and they always close all the windows and it becomes a sauna.
No dancefloor anymore! WTF!
Slow service when really busy.
The good
Great food. I love the wimpy burgers!
The bouncers have always been friendly , my friend got attacked upstairs for accidently spilling smebodys drink and the bouncers took care of it real quick.
Great cocktails!
