Positive The Crows Nest Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
I've been here a few times and each time it's great. I think more than anything, people like this place for the environment and not necessarily the food, which is good but not amazing. The calamari is always a winner, and the fish tacos are really good, as well as the fish and "choice". The salad bar is really nice and there is a ton of stuff to choose from. The French fries are absolutely delicious! They have this wonderful crispy golden shell and they just crunch in your mouth. I usually sit upstairs outside where there is a much more casual feel and you can view the ocean.

Negative The Crows Nest Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
Okay, it's on the water and the view is beautiful of course, but the food? Ick. The quality of the food was not good. I had the pear and Gorgonzola salad and the pears were canned! That's amazing to me. Especially when the area is full of farms and high quality produce. The candied pecans also seemed to be from a package. I also tried the fish taco and basically just gave up at that point. It lacked flavor, was soggy and the salsa was from a jar.
The scene was energetic though and I liked that. The server was attentive and I have to say the house made potato chips were delish.
That didn't make up for the rest of the mediocre food though....it's a good place for cocktails but I'd have dinner somewhere else first.

Average The Crows Nest Restaurant Santa Cruz Review:
I went here for my husbands birthday. The restaurant is really pretty inside which is nice for a special event or if you are from out of town. The entire restaurant is made of a dark beautiful wood, most of the restaurant is windows on one side so you can see the ocean. I think If I went back here I would go for lunch on a nice day and sit outside. The salad I had was one of the best caesars I have ever had and my husband loved the extensive salad bar but the good stuff stops there, None of the four of us were particularly blown away by the rest of the food. If your a tourist I would recommend it for lunch but between here and shadowbrook I would go to shadowbrook over this place.
