Tortilla Flats Soquel Santa Cruz - Summary:
(from tortillaflatsdining.com) - For over 25 years Tortilla Flats Mexican Restaurant has delighted Santa Cruz locals and Central Coast visitors. Everything about Tortilla Flats Restaurant, from the earth tone walls decorated with antique pottery to the luscious desserts is the creation of owner Cheryl Marquez. Inspired by the French and Mexican cuisines of New Orleans while living in the French Quarter, Cheryl has traveled extensively throughout Mexico and the American Southwest tasting and exploring the gourmet cuisine and culture of Mexico. Her mexican food blends the fieriness of the Mexico with the sophistication of the French sauces, the earthiness of the Yucatan and complexity of Santa Fe with all the freshness and lightness that Californians expect. With a variety of chiles, from the rare Peruvian aji to the well-known jalapeño, Cheryl creates tastes that are truly unique. And yes, we do have rice and beans – wonderful nutty long grain brown rice and no-animal-fat beans.
Throughout the year Cheryl creates a number of special mexican food menus. Twice a year she presents “Olé Mole,” a weeklong dining event with over 12 different moles, many impossible to find in the states. Other special dining events highlight the food of the Yucatan, the mexican recipes of Frida Kahlo, and the culinary possibilities of Cactus. Please check the Special Food Events section of our restaurant website for more information.
On Monday and Tuesday in addition to our regular mexican food menu we feature Tapas, the “little dishes” of Spain. Mixing the Spanish and Mexican flavors, you may find Scallops in a traditional saffron cream sauce or a cucumber soup with habanero seed garnish. Please check our sample mexican restaurant menu.
Finally, there are the margaritas. Our premium Margarita is made with fresh limejuice and orange liqueur. We have over thirty tequilas to choose from so you are sure to find one you find friendly.
We hope you explore the Tortilla Flats Restaurant website and whet your appetite to visit us in Santa Cruz (downtown Soquel). We know that you will enjoy your fine mexican dining experience.

Positive Tortilla Flats Soquel Santa Cruz Review:
I was visiting Soquel and my sister-in-law took me to Tortilla Flats. What a treat! The atmosphere is inviting with more of a South American decor. The menu is intriguing with fresh seafood dishes, along with more traditional mexican fare. The margaritas are to die for! The service was friendly and helpful, especially considering the menu choices. I'd definitely go back!

I've lived in Santa Cruz for 25 years and have never met a local who doesn't rave about Tortilla Flats as our best kept secret. The margaritas are simply the best. Get the Original, you won't be disappointed.
I love that they use healthy ingredients in the dishes, which are amazing. I've never seen a menu like this before. The owner makes everything fresh in the morning and her sauces are unbelievable. I've tried every enchilada plate and they're all delicious and very unique. You just can't find these kinds of recipes anywhere else. Their seafood is really good too. This is not your typical mexican food, I took my in-laws here when they were in town and they said they'd never had a better meal... and they're tough!
The decor and atmosphere are wonderful and the people who work there are always nice, it seems like they all really love their job which to me speaks worlds about a restaurant.
I could NOT believe it when I read some of the other reviews of Tortilla Flats on Yelp. This is without a doubt the best mexican restaurant anywhere around. I guess if you're looking for massive portions of gooey greasy Taqueria food you'll be disappointed. There are an infinite number of Taqueria's in Santa Cruz- go somewhere else if that's what you're looking for. This is a gourmet restaurant. I'm happy to pay the $12 for world-class, healthy food. I really don't think that's overpriced.
This restaurant speaks for itself. Go check it out

Average Tortilla Flats Soquel Santa Cruz Review:
Love their specials and festivals. Always good and tasty and unusual and well worth going for.
The regular menu can be a bit blah, although the chicken mole enchiladas are a good standby and I also like the red pepper enchiladas. We tend to go on Fridays to get the Seafood Burrito which is awesome.
Their happy hour cheaper dishes are also good if you find yourself there at the time in between lunch and dinner.
Original margaritas will knock you over - among the best I've tasted.
Portion size is fine - I never need rice and beans.
Buy a jar of their jalepeno jelly. We use it all the time on everything from fish to lamb and it is really wonderful.
