The holidays are here and you know what that entails – lots of family and friends…and usually eating! Make it easier on yourself this year and get take out food or try some of these selections from Santa Cruz Restaurants .org for great holiday dining!
The Crows Nest
The Crows Nest Restaurant is one of the best places to go for the holidays in Santa Cruz. I love the view, you sit right over the water and it is delightful to drink a nice warm hot toddy or cup of coffee while watching the ocean storm.
The staff is friendly and helpful. I took my Girlfriend and Daughter the other night, on a spur of the moment thing. We had an awesome waiter, who was never too far away.. The clam chowder is some of the best I’ve ever had (I’m a Chowder head). My girl had a spinach and cheese ravioli creation (can’t remember the name) in which was OK, but wasn’t anything to write home about. But what surprised me was the Halibut. I’m not a big fan of curry, so I don’t even know why I ordered it. But it was good! It wasn’t overpowered by the spices, and the noodles were good under it too.
You gotta be careful, all the good food can add up. My wallet paid the price for my little trip. But it was worth it. The place is historic and beautiful. It’s no surprise that the Crows Nest is rated one of the best restaurants in Santa Cruz.
Peachwoods At Pasatiempo
Peachwoods in Santa Cruz is a great choice for the holidays. The food is amazing and abundant, the menu extensive, the prices are reasonable, and the service is outstanding. It’s great to have the owner come by and talk to you…he makes you feel welcome. Yes he loves to rib his customers (the ribs by the way are my husband’s favorite) but it’s all part of the fun of the experience. He’s eccentric and Peachwoods can be, too. Just go on a special occasion (like a birthday, or Christmas break) and see what I mean! The best steaks, amazing vegetarian selections, you name it, they got it. And save room for dessert (or take it home!). Lots of special touches that make the meal memorable.
Cafe Cruz
I’ve been to Cafe Cruz for lunch about 10 times, and I think the food is terrific. Most creative salads I’ve had anywhere (e.g., prawn and strawberry salad with goat cheese and fried fennel), and, though the prices are pretty high for Santa Cruz, the portions are large enough to share one dish.
Service can be a little slow, and parking can be difficult, but I’ve never been disappointed here. Given my choice for lunch in the area, Cafe Cruz is at the top of my list.
Enjoy any and all of these picks and happy holidays from Santa Cruz Restaurants .org!
